I’d been wanting to try out a beauty subscription box for a while, I like the whole idea of the products you receive being a surprise. It’s like a birthday present to yourself EVERY MONTH! I’d heard very good things about Birchbox, It’s such a reasonable price too, standing at £12.50 a box, I got a discount code for my first box meaning I got five pounds off that price, bargain!
When you sign up to BirchBox you have to fill in a profile about yourself, which includes your skin type, hair colour and other little details, this helps the team tailor the box to you. I loved this concept as I’m not someone who’s massively into skincare (I probs should be) meaning this avoided me receiving 4/5 face cream products.
In the March edition of the Birchbox, I received 5 different products, including Benefit’s ‘DOUBLE THE LIP’ which I was mega excited to try. I’ve tested out most of these products so I thought I would give you a quick rundown on what I thought of them:
MODEL CO HIGHLIGHTING TRIO –
I’m a girl that LOVES a good highlighter, I’ve recently been wanting to try a new one so when this turned up in my Birchbox it seemed like fate! The Model Co Highlight contains a golden shade, a silver shade and a light pink, the formula of them all is super creamy enabling it to blend into your foundation very easily. The sample size is very reasonable too, each colour is probably big enough for about 5 uses I’d say, not bad at all. I’m thinking that I really want to purchase this one in a full-size product, seems like a highlight I could fall in love with!
BENEFIT ‘DOUBLE THE LIP’-
When you purchased the March Birchbox you were told this product would definitely be included, this persuaded me to sign up as I LOVE benefit! Once you’d ordered the box you got to choose between the shades ‘Lusty Rose and ‘Pink Thrills’, you probably know that I love my nude colours so I chose ‘Lusty Rose’.It’s such a cute pink colour, it’s like hey I’m pink but I’m not too in your face. I thought this product size was real good for a sample, it must be big enough for 20 uses at least, definitely big enough to decide whether you love it and want to but the full version.
When I tried ‘Double the Lip’ on I found it had such a lovely creamy formula, it wasn’t drying on the lips at all, it felt like your lips had been moisturised. That I love about a lipstick when it wears well but doesn’t dry out to the point of showing all the little cracks in your lips, GOOD JOB BENEFIT!
MARCELLE EYE MAKEUP REMOVER –
This product claims to be ‘Gentle Make-Up Remover For Sensitive Eyes’ which if you know me you’ll know my eyes are hella sensitive. I’ve tried so make make-up wipes in the past which have all made my eyes go puffy and sore, the only products I’ve found so far that my eye’s don’t react to are ‘Olay make-up remover cream’ and Tesco Value baby wipes. This made me super excited to try the Marcelle product, could this be a good make-up remover that’ll work for me?
When I tried this product out, I put a few drops onto a cotton pad and wiped it across my eyes, literally like 3 wipes and all my eye make-up was off! BRILLIANT! It also didn’t make my eyes go puffy or sore at all, I’d definitely rate this one a 10/10!
ORBIE DRY TEXTURIZING SPRAY –
I really enjoyed testing out and using this product! I sprayed a little bit of this in my hair the morning after washing my hair and it made it feel so much more fluffy and healthy. I found that it didn’t make my hair feel at all sticky or heavy, feels super lightweight on my hair which is just what I’m after.
BALANCE ME INSTANT LIFT PRIMER –
If I’m totally honest with you I don’t know what to say about this product, I’m not into skin care and primers, it’s not my thing. I don’t really know what this product is supposed to do, don’t get me wrong it was nice and soft under my eyes, but that’s all I noticed about this cream.
If you want to sign up to Birchbox you can use my discount code ‘GQKVD’ in order to get £5 off your first box! Let me know what you think of this box, also let me know of any other good beauty subscription boxes.
