If you’ve been following my blog for a little while now you may be aware that I’ve done a favourites post every month since this year started, apart from April. The past month has been super hectic and to be fair I haven’t had the chance to test out many new products and I haven’t bought many new things either, shocker I know. Instead, I thought I would do a little April round-up to update you on what’s been going on this past month and a bit, a few of my highlights and achievements and also what hasn’t been so tip-top. Hopefully, this should help to explain where I’ve been and why I haven’t been as present on my blog the past few weeks, it isn’t going to stay that way though, don’t worry.
I STARTED A NEW JOB
At the start of the month, I started working at an outdoor centre near where I live, y’know climbing, sailing, kayaking and bits like that. Since then I’ve done lots of training to develop my personal skills, I passed quite a few courses already and seen a development in myself in quite a short space of time. I can’t wait to see what the year brings!
I GOT MY LEVEL 1 SAILING
I’d never don’t much sailing prior to this, maybe a few hours with a friend briefly explaining how a boat works, but that kinda went over my head. I pretty much went on this course as a total beginner to sailing and now I know how to rig a basic boat and the basics of how to sail without capsizing!
I DID MY FIRST LEAD CLIMB
This is probably one of the things I’m most proud of doing this month, it’s something I’ve been wanting to learn for a while but been a little bit too scared. Basically, you’re taking the climbing rope up with you and clipping it into carabiners up the wall as you go, it scared me for a while as if you don’t reach a high enough point and you fall, there’s a chance of you hitting the floor. BUT I’VE DON’T MY FIRST ONE, AND A FEW MORE, YESS!
I GOT PARAMORE TICKETS
I’m still in shock that I got them, it was 10:15 and I were about to close the Royal Albert hall site and accept that all tickets had sold out and it was a lost cause, then arena tickets appeared. I got tickets and I’m going to be seeing Paramore, I still can’t quite believe yet, it’s all a bit of a shock. I’m going to see one of my favourite bands that I didn’t think I was going to be able to see, best thing ever!
I GOT MY 1 STAR CANOE/KAYAK
Okay, yes, I know 1 star is only basic skills but I’m working on it, I’m improving and learning more every time I got out and hopefully due to that will pass my 2 star in a few months.
NOT SO GREAT BITS
I think I’ve now hit the age where I had the adult responsibilities which aren’t so great, like sorting out tax. It’s never something you’re taught about at school or whilst growing up so when I got emergency taxed I was a bit confused to it had happened and how to sort it. I basically spent an hour or so on hold to the tax office and didn’t even get through, I still need to take another attempt at that.
HAVING LESS TIME TO BLOG
I’m hoping that you can tell by the effort that I put into it that I LOVE my blog, so so much and this month I haven’t found as much time to sit down and write. It’s been for a variety of reasons, but it got me down a little that I wasn’t writing as much, I felt out the loop and like I wasn’t a ‘blogger’ anymore. I guess I feel sort of guilty too for not posting as many posts as I have in previous months. It’s not going to stay that way, I’m going to find the time to blog because I LOVE IT and nothing will change that, I’ve just had a lot more things to fit in and I’ve been learning how to balance it all, which I clearly haven’t got spot on yet.
I’d love to know if you guys have any tips for balancing sleeping, social life, work and blogging and other hobbies, I’ll be sure to write my own post about it once I’ve figured out what I’m doing a little more.
