A good old red lippy used to be my absolute go to, couldn’t beat it! It was to the point where I’d rush to the toilets during my breaks at sixth form to re-apply and check my lipstick hasn’t faded. However, recently there hasn’t been a red lipstick that I’ve been dying to try or one that I often reach for out of my collection, it’s a colour that’s faded from my makeup bag, until now.
I first stumbled across the ‘HEAT’ lipstick after making a purchase in an Urban Decay store, so as you would imagine my bank account was already feeling the hit. It was sat next to the new ‘Naked Heat’ palette, which you’ve got to agree it’s pretty hard not to be drawn into, it’s still one I’m hoping to get. There are 3 lipsticks in the ‘vice naked heat’ range, these include, Fuel which is a nude, Scorched that’s a slightly more brown nude and Heat a shimmering red. I’m sure you’ve noticed from the picture above that the packaging is absolutely divine, there’s a golden lid with the words ‘Urban Decay’ engraved in small writing, looks so classy (it’s also perfect for flatlays).
I swatched the shade ‘Heat’ on my hand whilst standing in the store, I was pleasantly surprised with how shimmery and dazzling it was, from that moment I was like WOW this is a red a gal needs! The price is also fairly reasonable for a limited edition colour as it’s currently retailing at £15, not too shabby.
WHAT I THINK NOW:
I’ve worn this lipstick now on several occasions and every time I wear it I feel that little bit more special, it seems to scream ‘today is going to be a good day’ and ‘It’s time for a good night gal’. The shade isn’t too vibrant or bright therefore you don’t have to feel overly confident and bold to pull it off, it’s a good red lippy to start off with! I must also mention how easy to apply it is, it glides on exactly where you want it to go layer by layer unlike some lipsticks that no matter what you do happen to end up on your teeth, nightmare!
WOULD I BUY AGAIN/RECOMMEND?
I would for sure purchase this lippy again, in fact, I’d go as far as saying it’s an item I never want to see missing from my make-up bag. If you’re looking to try out a higher end lipstick give this a try and you won’t regret it, also if you want a cheaper red lippy Rimmel London ‘Alarm’ is where it’s at!
If you’ve also tried out this lipstick I’d love to hear your thoughts on it, also if you know of any other snazzy red lipsticks please let me know.
