AN INSIGHT TO MY INSTA NINE

I saw this style of post done by another blogger called Lauren, I’ve hyperlinked her post so you can click on her name to go and check that out.

This kind of thing is so up my street, mainly because I am obsessed with Instagram at the moment, so I just had to create my own version.

The idea is that I share nine pictures from my Instagram feed and talk through the process of taking the photo’s, what I took the image on, how I edited it and any other behind the scenes gossip I can come up with. I’ll also be able to make a series of out this so every month or so you’ll get an updated version of behind the grid, got to love a good series!

PHOTO 1

This image was taken by my Boyfriend Lewiss with my Olympus Pen EPL7 on the 1st December as I wanted a cute image of me opening my advent.

This post was also in collaboration with a brand called ‘Style and Grace UK’  as they had ever so kindly sent me this lovely calendar filled with bath goodies from bath bombs to soaps and bath confetti.

I used the free Lightroom version for mobile to edit, I wanted to adjust the image to make it slightly warmer toned as well as making the pinks on the advent stand out more.

here’s a before and after:

Once the Image was in Lightroom I started by lowering the Contrast to -39, I then lifted the shadows to +90, the whites went to -95 and the blacks to -20.

I then went over to the ‘color’ tab in order to adjust the warmth of the image. I changed the temperature to +77, the tint to -8 (I like lowering the tint slightly as it stops the orange being too overpowering). I then lifted the vibrancy to +91 and the saturation to +34.

I loved how these two lipstick shots turned out after I edited them, it’s hands down the best product photo I’ve ever taken. I was just so fed up with the plain marble background to be ‘blogger’ and ‘on trend’ that I decided to mix it up a bit and personally I think it worked in my favour.

Here’s a before and after of one of the images (I used the same edit on both)

Taken on: Olympus Pen EPL7 and edited on Lightroom

Exposure +1.26/ Contrast – 37/ Highlights -34 / Shadows +76/ Whites +36/  Blacks -36 /Temperature +10 / Tint -23 / Vibrance +100 / Saturation +70

PHOTO 3

This photo was taken by Steph (@stephaniejay) on one of our photo days where we loaded my car full of outfits so we could keep popping back to change.

Funny story behind this one: When we saw this cafe looking cute and Christmassy from the outside we knew we had to get an Instagram picture there. A couple of images in a man from the cafe wonders out and tells us it’s £10 to take images here, okay he was clearly joking but it made the whole situation awkward so we quickly ran away.

It satisfied me how I managed to edit the image to make the blue tiles on the table really pop out!

Here’s a before and after:

Taken on: Olympus Pen EPL7 and edited on Lightroom

Exposure -0.26 / Contrast – 55 / Highlights -35 / Shadows +90 / Whites -80/  Blacks -32 /Temperature +48 / Tint -25 / Vibrance +100 / Saturation +37

This photo was also taken my Steph on the same day as picture 3; we tried our best to make them look like different days/events.

I’m not too keen on this photo, it appears to be slightly too warm toned however if I made the tone cooler I didn’t like it either. I just wished the colour on my jumper popped a little more as currently, it blends in with the green door too much; I’ll call this a bad location choice.

PS: so so many people were stopping and looking at me during the taking of this image as it was on a rather busy street in Cambridge.

Here’s a before and after:

Taken on: Olympus Pen EPL7 and edited on Lightroom

Exposure -0.91 / Contrast – 70 / Highlights -64 / Shadows +92 / Whites -75/  Blacks -33 /Temperature +37 / Tint -10 / Vibrance +96 / Saturation +23

PHOTO 5

I love the flip screen feature on the Olympus Pen, for this reason, quality selfies!

I adore this picture of Steph and me, it was the last photo of the day before we headed for tea and snacks and then travelled back home.

Here’s a before and after:

Taken on: Olympus Pen EPL7 and edited on Lightroom

Exposure +0.13 / Contrast – 40 / Highlights -64 / Shadows +31 / Whites -85 /  Blacks -18 /Temperature +85 / Tint -17 / Vibrance +92 / Saturation +39

PHOTO 6

This photo was taken in the bathroom mirror on my iPhone SE in my old flat which I already miss a million (and a bit more).

Encase you’re wondering the jumper I’m wearing here is from H&M; I fell in love with it as soon as I saw it on display. I ran to pick it up being like ‘THIS IS MINE!’

Unfortunately, I planned to do this blog post a week or so after this image was taken so I’ve deleted the unedited version, however, I can tell you how I edited it on Lightroom.

Exposure +0.41 / Contrast – 23 / Highlights +7 / Shadows +90 / Whites -80 /  Blacks -20 /Temperature +28 / Tint -11 / Vibrance +99 / Saturation +28

PHOTO 8

This photo was in collaboration with Burga as they ever so kindly sent me three of their beautiful cases. At the time I didn’t realise that my contract was up in a week so I now have an iPhone 6S meaning the cases no longer fit. I’m thinking of doing a giveaway of them and a few other bits soon, what do you think?

I was rather impressed with how well I edited this photo as the original is so much darker as I took it at about 6 in the evening.

Here’s a before and after

Taken on: Olympus Pen EPL7 and edited on Lightroom

Exposure +0.35 / Contrast +52 / Highlights -74 / Shadows +100 / Whites +59 /  Blacks +34 /Temperature +16 / Tint -39 / Vibrance +44 / Saturation + 56

PHOTO 9

I think this image may be the worst quality of them all due to the fact with was taken on my IPhone SE.

This was on the same day that Lauren blogs and I were going to see State Champs in London; we decided to get a few cute pictures along the way.

I thought the background was so super bright and cute, can we have more walls like this around, please? I also kept it real as I didn’t bother to edit out any of the rubbish laying on the floor, lol.

Here’s a before and after

Exposure +0.31 / Contrast +55 / Highlights -91 / Shadows +75 / Whites -75 /  Blacks -33 /Temperature +78 / Tint -42 / Vibrance +88 / Saturation + 36

Oh my, that was a mega long post, thank you so much if you’ve made it to the end!

Should I do six pictures of my feed next time to make the post a little bit shorter?
