HOW TO MAKE THE MOST OF AN EARLY MORNING START

I’m definitely not a keen early bird, I would much rather be sat in bed until 11am with a cuppa tea and a binge watch of friends; however, that can’t always happen (I wish).

I’ve recently had a change in my routine due to a new job that I’ve started and it’s allowed me to see roughly another 4 hours in my day. Instead of starting my day at 8am, I’ve been getting up at 4am, I know slightly mind-blowing! Therefore, I’ve been finishing my shift at work by 11, so by the time I would want to get up I’ve already done a 6-hour shift and I then have the rest of the day to myself.

It’s shocking how much you can actually get done when you put your mind to it, I get so much more done in the days where I start early, it makes me feel so MOTIVATED!

Here are some tips for starting your day early:

I KNOW YOU WANT TO BUT DON’T SNOOZE THAT ALARM

This is such a hard one to crack as the repetitive ringing early in the morning is the most annoying thing! All I want to do is press snooze asap to shut it up; however, then I’ll never be up.

On the days when I manage to get up as soon as it goes off, I instantly feel like I am off to a good start. This leads to me fitting more into my mornings such as an extra cup of tea, 5 more minuites on my makeup or 5 minuites to sit and think over social content ideas.

It gives you some weird ‘Girl Boss’ feeling where you believe you can ace the day.

GET READY AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE 

It’s so easy to get distracted in the morning as you don’t always feel a sense of urgency. I used to find myself standing in the shower for a decent 20 mins as I didn’t want to face the cold air outside the shower, I’d then spend ages scrolling on social media whilst doing my hair and make-up. This resulted in a mad dash in the last few moments to be ready to leave on time.

I try to plan how long I will spend doing my hair and my makeup, I’ll then keep an eye on the time so I know how long I have left on that part of my routine. I will also not scroll on my phone AT ALL until I’m ready, it’s makes such a difference!

MAKE YOURSELF A TO-DO LIST

A daily to-do list is such a positively motivating way to start off the day, it sets you off to believe you can achieve your goals despite what happened the previous day.

I try to note down 4 of 5 things I want to get done that day, sometimes they’re little things like making my bed, sorting out my washing or maybe a something bigger like creating a piece of content. If I can tick off a couple of things by midday I feel like I’m having a super good day which will make me in one of the best moods.

top tip: don’t make a massive to do-to list with 15+ things on, they just seem too intimidating. It’s counterproductive because as hard as you try you feel as if you’re not getting enough done

    Sleep early. That’s basically the only tip I have 😂😂 Personally, I never snooze alarms. I just don’t hear them 😅 That social media part is sooo true. I’m trying to be more disciplined about it 😁

    This is such great advice especially for a morning person like me! sometimes I struggle to get up and keep productive but I’m definitely going to start writing to do lists in the morning!!

    I’m kind of a morning person but not much. Something I noticed that helps is drinking a cold glass of water right when you get out of bed. And if you can’t seem to get out of bed I suggest putting some music on your phone so you can slowly feel more energized.

    Getting ready as quickly as possible always seems to work for me as well! When I need to get things done I’ll get dressed as soon as I get out of bed, I feel instantly productive then x

    Holy shit, 4am?! Guuurl that’s super early! And here’s me thinking that 6.30am was an early start. Loving these tips and I can’t agree with you more on getting a to-do list ready. I do this a lot on weekends as I get up early for them too!
