7 WAYS TO STAY PRODUCTIVE WITH BLOGGING

img_0012

I’m writing this post as much for myself as I am for anyone who’s reading this. I’m going to use this as a resource for myself too, it’s all well and good knowing ways to stay productive but when you’re not in the right headspace you need a little kick up the ass, this will be mine, my list to look back to, my checklist of things to do before I waste my evenings away doing not a lot, at all.

MAKE SURE YOU READ OTHER BLOGGERS POSTS, INSPIRATION IS THE KEY

I find reading other creators posts and keeping myself in the loop can genuinely inspire me so much. Simply, reading 5 or more posts can send my mind into a whirl of ideas, is there a new beauty product I’ve purchased which I could talk about, is there an experience I’ve had in my life which I could share or could I just set myself some goals and share them.

If you’re stuck in a writer’s block the worst thing you can do is have no inspiration.

HAVE A TIDY ROOM AS THAT EQUALS A BETTER HEADSPACE

If the space I write in is a mess then all I will do is stress about it, this will lead to my mind wondering and therefore I’ll get nothing productive done. However, for example,  if I’m writing in my bedroom and the bed is made and all my clothes are away, I’ll feel like I’ve already been productive so I would carry on in that mindset.

PUT ON SOME MUSIC AS SILENCE CAN BE INTIMIDATING

A little bit of background noise can really help, something chilling and not too loud. A tune to break the silence in order to keep you focused on writing.

WRITE LISTS OF POST IDEAS AS IT COULD SPARK SOME UNIQUE IDEAS

Sit and write a list of 50 odd blog post ideas, they don’t have to be things you would typically write about on your blog. Just get anything down, literally, anything that pops into your head; you can then narrow down the list and find a particular one you want to spend some time on.

TAKE BREAKS BECAUSE YOU STARE AT A BLANK PIECE OF PAPER FOR TOO LONG NOTHING WILL COME TO YOU

If you’re sat trying to write something for a decent period of time and nothing is coming to you then stressing isn’t going to make it magically better (I wish it did, lol). Take a little bit of time out, make a cuppa and maybe a snack and then come back to the post later in a fresh mindset.

ASK FOR OTHER BLOGGERS OPINIONS, ITS A COMMUNITY AFTER-ALL

If I’m thinking about writing a blog post on a topic which I don’t usually talk about or I haven’t spoken about before on my blog, I may ask for opinions from a friend or take it to Twitter. Simply having the backing of a few others bloggers saying ‘yes, that’s a good idea!’ when you’re not sure if a topic that would be well received can really help.

You could also do a poll such as ‘what blog post would you like to see next?’, the answer to the poll may help to motivate you to finish that post.

CHANGE THE SCENERY YOU’RE WRITING IN, MAYBE GO TO A COFFEE SHOP

I went to a super cute cafe in Cambridge the other week called ‘The Locker Room Cafe’, it was in that moment I thought ‘hey, this would be a fantastic place to come to focus on content’. You could sit there with a cuppa tea and free wifi and focus on writing, no distractions of your own home, you’re not able to wander off to do something else, you’re purely there to write. Imagine leaving the cafe and having made no progress with writing posts, you would feel so unproductive so this will drive you to get what you need to do done, then you can go home and do what you please. It’s essentially making your own work zone away from home. You could also go to your local library instead of a cafe, wherever suits you.

Do you have any tips for staying productive with your blog?

These really are fantastic ideas. I definitely find it easier in a coffee shop sometimes than sat at home. Need to remind myself of some of these!

I definitely agree on reading other bloggers posts, and to ask others opinions and thoughts on blogging related things. Speaking with others and communicating is definitely key!

    Thanks for sharing (:

I love this! Some amazing points to take into consideration, staying productive with your blog can get harder over time. I have to be in a calm, open room to help me write, there cannot be anything around to distract me. I’m sure this post will help a couple of bloggers!

Some great tips here for how to stay on top of blogging and keep motivated! I definitely want to try some of these next year – especially the change of scenery whilst working. I tend to write all my posts at home but I’d love to go to a coffee shop and write there – it’s such a lovely thought! Thanks for sharing x

That is definitely one thing I have started doing is writing down blog post ideas, at least they are written down then I could go back to them whenever I have a blank! I love listening to music when blogging, sometimes the song lyrics give me ideas too! xx

I’ve felt so uninspired with my blog this year and I’m determined to get back into it for 2019 so this post is so helpful. 100% agree with the idea that you work better in an organised space and that’s definitely something I’m working on!

This was so helpful! Thank you so much! Although, for the music one, I end up singing to the song rather than do what I need to get done!

I completely agree with going to a café to focus on writing! It gives a change of scenery and atmosphere and will not let me sleep or slack off. When in a mood to study, write, or just do my assignments, I’d always head to a cute and cozy café downtown 🙂 thanks for sharing!x
